Pregnancy is a brief, yet profound time in your life, when you embody the life-bringing Goddess. Remember that precious time with a mosaic sculpture. With Krista's guidance, design a work of sacred art to grace your garden or wall. The design can be whatever inspires you: a flower or symbol, family china, a photo of the baby, a blessing, a song...  The mosaics are created using glass over concrete, and will last for generations.

The concrete casting can be made from any existing plaster cast, or from a plaster cast yet to be made. (If you are pregnant now and live outside the Bay Area, you might purchase a plaster belly cast kit, have it made by a friend or partner, and ship it to me.) The price for this original piece of art ranges from $1000 to $2500, depending on the complexity of the design and the materials used.

Krista Keim is the mother of Luke and William Parr, is married to David Parr, and is a “happy wild lady.” She has her MFA from Mills College, and lives in Oakland, California.  Krista is a member of the Society of American Mosaic Artists, and currently teaches mosaics at the Stained Glass Garden in Berkeley, CA.

“While pregnant, I loved the full, round shape of my body, and wanted it to be the canvas I used to express the love and joy I felt for the being inside. I transformed a plaster cast into a beautiful and permanent sculpture to enliven our garden."
